On 1 st January 2021, the UK introduced a point-based immigration system which allows people from outside of UK to move here for work. This point-based situation allows anyone that meets the set requirements and scores enough points against them to be eligible for a Skilled Worker visa. There are many different routes and occupations that are valid for acquiring a work visa via this system.
How can you obtain a Skilled Worker visa?
When applying for a Skilled Worker Visa application, there a number of criteria a person must meet to be eligible. They must have been offered a job in the UK by a Home Office approved employer. They will need a certificate of sponsorship relating to that job offer from the employer. The person must also be paid a minimum salary, which is dependent on the job they do. Furthermore, their job has to be on the list of eligible occupations.
There are plenty of jobs on the eligible occupations list. Sectors include as production, manufacturing, engineering, catering and management. Most jobs in the legal field are also on the list of eligible occupations.
What are the requirements for a skilled worker?
To be classed as a skilled worker there are a few requirements that need to be met. They include:
- Having enough money to support yourself in the UK and to be able to provide evidence for that.
- English Language skills that meet a certain standard.
- Providing information on any criminal record.
